Watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade so you can see the sky-high balloons and Santa himself from the comfort of your own home. Can you believe this parade has been running for almost 100 years!
Tradition #2 Collect Canned Food to Donate
Many families volunteer at the food bank on Thanksgiving, but shelters need food throughout the entire holiday season. When you sign up for Thanksgiving side dishes ahead of the big meal, ask each family member to buy double the canned goods when they do their grocery shopping. Then, collect the extra canned food and donate it to a local organization.
Tradition #3 Try a New Recipe
It's not Thanksgiving without stuffing, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie, but it's always a good time to try out that new recipe you've been eyeing. This year, start a tradition of bringing a new side dish to the annual festivities. Kami, a Smock Candy team member, has a great one for you to try (click image below for full recipe). Tradition #4 Share Family Stories
Going around the table to share what each person is thankful for is a classic holiday tradition. We challenge you to make this year extra special by asking each person to share a family memory or story that's meaningful to them.
Tradition #5 Personalize the Table
Going all-out on table decorations will make each guest feel welcome, so let’s not forget about the kiddos. We've found the cutest crayon holder and table runner for your kids and grandkids to enjoy a creative dinner on this grateful day.
